4wd Access

Deep Creek Conservation Park provides a range of driving experiences for both conventional and four wheel drive vehicles.

All but 2 tracks in the Park are accessible with a conventional vehicle throughout the year as the network consists of compacted rubble roads. Some sections may at times become corrugated requiring speeds to be adjusted accordingly.

Four wheel drive vehicles are required to gain access to the following sections;

• Blowhole Beach from Cobbler Hill Picnic Area onwards
• Boat Harbor Beach from gated signpost on Tapanappa Road onwards
• Backhouse Road to Range Road

Wheelchair Access – Accommodation

Southern Ocean Retreats is proud to be able to offer wheelchair friendly accommodation at one of our Ridgetop Retreats which has been specifically designed for this purpose.

In addition to a portable ramp, suitable door widths, and an appropriate bathroom design that allows for wheelchair access that meets AS1428 standards we have also incorporated light switches at wheelchair friendly heights.  A shower chair is available upon request if needed making this a holiday accommodation experience accessible to everyone.

Wheelchair Access – Park

The rugged terrain of Deep Creek Conservation Park limits access on many walking trails but wheelchair friendly access is possible on some sections such as the Forest Circuit walk.  Furthermore, a TrailRider off road wheelchair is available free of charge from the Fleurieu Coast Visitor Centre.  This chair enables access to many of the trails in Deep Creek Conservation Park.  All picnic areas are wheelchair accessible with the following areas providing memorable vantage points;

• Cobbler Hill picnic area: excellent views across Backstairs Passage to Kangaroo Island
• Stringybark Loop picnic area: set amongst majestic stringybark trees and bird life
• Tapanappa Lookout picnic area: expansive views from Tunkalilla Beach, Pages Islands to Cape Willoughby on Kangaroo Island.
