About Deep Creek Conservation Park South Australia
At the southern tip of the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia
lies Deep Creek Conservation Park. It contains some of the State's
most spectacular semi-wilderness areas and coastal scenery with
unparalleled views across the Southern Ocean.
Bushwalking and Wildlife
The Park offers you a superb
bushwalking and wildlife experience. Visitors can enjoy rugged
coastal panoramas
as well
as tranquil
settings beneath tall stringybark forests.
Heysen Trail
The famous Heysen Trail passes through some of the
most dramatic parts of the Park on its way from Cape Jervis
to the
Flinders
Ranges.
The waterfall after which the Park was named flows throughout
the year and is accessible via one of the Park's many well
marked walking tracks.
Flora & Fauna including 120 species of birds, Kangaroos,
Eagles, Black Cockatoos
Orchids and ferns grow in moist gullies
with permanent running creeks. The Park is home to some 400
native plant species including
several of conservation significance.
Western Grey Kangaroos can be observed as they graze on nearby
grasslands. The Park is also home to some 120 bird species from
the tiny superb blue wren to the mighty wedge tailed eagle. The
black cockatoo (as featured in our logo, see top of page)
is also commonly found in the area.
